Our winter Community Involvement opportunity marks the 20th consecutive year that BLOC has committed to adopt local families for the holidays and the 17th year that this effort has been anchored by our bowling event!

This year we will also be raising money for a local non-profit, Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, whose mission is to prepare Spanish-speaking children for success in school and life by providing superior dual language early childhood education. Because of generous donations like yours, you will be supporting a family that is in need.

In 2020, we raised over $21,000 and over the years, we have been able
to provide needs and wishes to families in need, along with a
holiday meal and groceries.

You can support this effort numerous ways. The good news is that you don't have to
choose just one! You can participate in any and all activities!

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED IN BLOC-N-BOWL:

BLOC-N-BOWL BOWLING EVENT

For six weeks leading up to BLOC 'n bowl, teams of four will solicit pledges from friends, family and colleagues that will give to those less fortunate so that we can adopt & help local families.

The signature event is a bowling tournament at 10 Park lanes on a Saturday in December, where all teams bring their donations, bowl and enjoy food and prizes.

$100 per player
($400 per team)

Includes T-Shirt, Pizza, Beer,
and two games of Bowling.

Payment and collected donations are due
and paid the day of the event.

TEAM FEE DISCOUNT
If the team totals donations raised at the time of
registration in the amounts of:

$500 - $999
Bowling becomes $50 per player, $200 Per Team

$1000+
In total team donations raised, Bowling Fee is Waived

SHOPPING & WRAP PARTY

Stay tuned for more details. This will be determined by our area COVID Status.

The shopping team will be given family profiles, names, ages, sizes, wish lists and needs lists so we can fulfill as much as possible with our donated funds.

We will assemble volunteers at a specified location with all of the necessary equipment and supplies (wrapping paper, tape, ribbons, tags, food and spirits....and of course some tunes)! This is always a ton of fun and the more the help the better!

GIFT DELIVERY

Stay tuned for more details. This will be determined by our area COVID Status.

We will assemble at the member’s location on Saturday morning to pickup and deliver holiday cheer into homes that have experienced little.

This is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences for a lot of our families. Bring your children! Witness true gratitude and genuine smiles.

2021 BENEFICIARY

Charlotte Bilingual Preschool serves children birth to 5, but what makes us unique is that we provide dual generation programming to serve our families. These programs provide our families with the tools they need to thrive. This is where BLOC comes in.

CltBP is grateful to be the recipient of the BLOC n Bowl funding for this year. Funds from the event will go towards an amazing program which we are piloting this year as part of our Workforce Development Approach, called the Apprenticeship Program.

The Apprenticeship Program provides family members from within our community the opportunity to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. It provides a year-long field learning experience, working alongside experienced CltBP teachers and interacting 1:1 with students. Specifically, BLOC funding will provide professional development, occupational ESL courses, digital literacy courses and Chromebooks to all 8 of our participants.

The participants in the program this year are all women. All members of the Latinx community. Many of which had a career in their home country, that didn't translate when they moved to the United States. Some of which are single mothers, serving as the sole provider for their family. All of these women have something in common - their goal is to provide a better life for their children and realize their American Dream. This program enables these women to take a huge step towards this goal. When they graduate from the program in Spring of 2022, they will be certified teaching assistants, able to enter a classroom in Fall of 2022. Thank you, Business Leaders of Charlotte, for building a brighter future for these women and the generations of children they will teach in the years to come.

CltBP is looking forward to bowling alongside BLOC members on December 4th. We hope to have two teams of Board Members, volunteers, and family members.
